Our Milky Way Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy.

Here are some things it contains:

  • A central supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A
  • An estimated 100-400 billion stars
  • It contains our solar system, which is approximately 27,000 light-years from the center of the galaxy.

Nebulae are vast, interstellar clouds of dust, hydrogen, helium and other gases.

New stars are born from nebulae and nebulae also contain remnants of dead stars.

Fun Fact: A nebula the size of Earth would weigh only about as much as a cat. That's because they are mostly vaccum(empty space).
